Cayo District - San Ignacio San Ignacio Town is one of the twin-towns located in the Cayo District. Although it is a small town, there is a lot of culture and history to explore. San Ignacio is considered as the main hub to adventures in western Belize. You have access to great Belizean food, fascinating historical monuments, beautiful sceneries of flora and fauna, wildlife conservation projects and a farmer's market with fresh produce. Belmopan is the capital city of Belize. Although the smallest capital city in the continental Americas by population, Belmopan is the third-largest settlement in Belize, behind Belize City and San Ignacio. Founded as a planned community in 1970, Belmopan is one of the newest national capital cities in the world. Since 2000 Belmopan has been one of two settlements in Belize to hold official city status, along with Belize City. Belmopan is located in Cayo District at an altitude of 76 metres above sea level. Belmopan was constructed just to the east of the Belize River, 80 km inland from the former capital, the port of Belize City, after that city's near destruction by Hurricane Hattie in 1961. The government was moved to Belmopan in 1970. Its National Assembly Building is designed to resemble a Pre-Columbian Maya temple. Belmopan City - Belmopan is the capital city of Belize. Unitedville - Unitedville is a village located Cayo District, Belize. The main livelihood activity in this community is traditionally subsistence farming. This would include corn, ground food, beans, some rice, various tropical fruits, chickens and small livestock.
Spanish Lookout - Spanish Lookout is a Mennonite community in the Cayo District. Spanish Lookout is largely an agricultural community with some light industry, furniture making, prefabricated wood houses and the only oil field in production in Belize. The Mennonite community in Spanish Lookout is quite modern as cars are driven and other modern conveniences are used. The citizens of this community speak Plautdietsch as their mothertongue. Most of the Mennonites in Spanish Lookout also speak English and Spanish.
San Elena Town - Separated by the Macal River, connected by the Low-lying Board Bridge and the Hawksworth Bridge, Santa Elena town is the twin town of San Ignacio Town. Unlike it's twin, this town is rather calm and quiet. Take a stroll on the paved streets and enjoy the fresh air. Just like San Ignacio Town, Santa Elena Town is a hub where you have access to all other attractions such as Mountain Pine Ridge and other villages such as San Antonio Village.
San Jose Succotz - San Jose Succotz is a Maya village in Cayo District, Belize, consisting mainly of people of Yucatec Maya descent. Locally known as "Succotz," this quant, little village is home to great restaurants delivering delicious food. And, just across the Mopan River, lies the archaeological site of Xunantunich. Be sure to stop at the different arts and crafts stands near the ferry for handmade souvenirs.

Located 67 miles from Belize City is San Ignacio Town, connected by the Hawksworth Bridge to its twin town Santa Elena, San Ignacio is the largest town in the Cayo District and is a base for tourism activities throughout Cayo. Roaring Creek - Roaring Creek is one of the oldest communities along the George Price Highway. It is a small village located in the Cayo District of Belize, a little less than a mile from the City of Belmopan. It's name is derived from the creek waterfalls that flow into the Belize River next to the Guanacaste Park area.
Cristo Rey - Located in the countryside of the Cayo District, Cristo Rey Village hosts beautiful waterfalls and streams for visitors and residents to enjoy. Atop of the hilly landsape, you can the scenic view of the skyline at any time of the day
