Burrell Boom - Burrell Boom is tranquil and charming village that lies on the Belize River, twenty miles above Belize City. This village was founded in the 18th century. Its name is taken from the iron chains, "booms," that loggers would extended across the river to trap the mahogany logs that were sent from further upriver. Today, you can still see the chains and anchors displayed in the Burrell Boom Park. This historic village is passed by visitors that are on their way to the Community Baboon Sanctuary.
Hattieville - Hattieville is a village in the Belize District of the nation of Belize. The location of the village was initially a place of refuge after hurricane Hattie wreaked havoc in Belize in 1961. Many residents living in Belize City were left homeless and had to evacuate. Many of those who moved to the area ended up staying permanently and established what is known as Hattieville today.
