SIR THOMAS AT TOUCAN SITTEE

PRIVATE RAINFOREST BUNGALOWS
A jungle adventure is waiting. Jungle bungalows in a bird sanctuary!!! Where you can enjoy Belize at its best and it's creatures without sacrificing creature comforts. The 18 acre resort is a noted jungle bird sanctuary, nestled on the shore of the beautiful Sittee River just 3 miles from Hopkins on the Hopkins/Sittee Village Loop Rd. An eco-tourists delight with all the natural (and cultivated) flora and fauna one could want. Accommodations are a series of screened in, elevated, rustic mahogany and pine bungalows (no dry wall or secondary interior surfaces here) that bring you close to nature with that natural feeling.
Birding is our specialty, with feed stations, blinds, and natural trails in our TaTa Dehundee Wildlife Park and campground. Center piece of the beauty of this location is frontage on the banks of the Sittee River. The river, tributaries, and Lagoons that are teeming with fish such as tarpon, snook, barracuda, jack crevalle, etc. Canoeing and kayaking in these waters will reveal manatee, iguanas, and... yes crocodiles (guides are always recommended).
We are only 3 miles from beaches and PADI dive/snorkeling facilities that specialize in diving the Great Belize Barrier Reef. Just minutes away are ancient Mayan Temples, wild animal preserves, hiking trails, waterfalls, cave tubing, horseback riding and so much more. We can arrange for those adventures!!! We are less than 100 yards from the embarkation point for Glover's Atoll Resort.
Sir Thomas' at Toucan Sittee is 18 acres of pristine jungle situated on the banks of the Sittee River. The plant life has been managed over the last 18 years to include almost every sub-tropical and tropical plant found in Central and South America. Visit and camp in our TaTa DeHundee Wildlife Park, complete with trails, blinds, feeding stations, and camping areas. Where the vegetation is lush with beautiful flowers, and the birds and wildlife are abundant. Animal and particularly bird life are our specialty. The Audubon Society of Belize, recently (March 28, 2009) surveyed the property and observed "97 bird species in the first 60 minutes" of their study. We are one of the few birding areas where birds of the sea, river and the broad leaf forest can be observed. Bring your binoculars and camera. We provide a checklist of observed birds.
