HURACAN DIVE LODGE
Why should I consider staying at Huracan Dive Lodge on our Belize vacation? Huracan Dive Lodge is literally 12 minutes from the "Famous Blue Hole". You can't get any closer than this. Most people who chose the Huracan Dive Lodge, are people serious about diving. The lodge is equipped with a dive shop and dive equipment rentals. Accessible to the Lodge are numerous other diving sites, located on the eastern side of the Lighthouse Reef Atoll. After a full day of diving, end your day by sitting back and enjoying a beautifully prepared meal by an internationally trained chef. That's what makes this, the ultimate dive vacation adventure.
Huracan is a small, full service Dive Center and Boutique Lodge on Long Caye at Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize. Our prices include all diving, all accommodation, all meals, snacks, refreshments (snorkels and simple rest and relaxation also possible, pls contact us for price). Long Caye is situated within the protected Lighthouse Reef Atoll off the coast of Belize - an area made famous by the exploration of Jacques Cousteau in the 70's where he researched the Great Blue Hole, a karst submerged terrestrial cave 400ft deep and over 1,000ft across.
Huracan's accommodation comprises 4 en-suite double rooms and full board, prices include diving from our boat (7 nights/ 6 days/ 15 dives or 4 nights/ 3 days/ 8 dives, 3 nights/ 2 days/ 5 dives). Our building is entirely constructed from local, sustainably sourced hardwood, and we are completely off grid, relying on solar for our energy, backed up with a generator for cloudy days.
We are renowned for our friendly and attentive staff, the incredible reef, the peace and quiet, the dark nights and plentiful stars thanks to the lack of light pollution. Many guests return for the comfortable and friendly atmosphere here. We offer 3,4 and 7 night diving packages (5,8 & 15 dives respectively), or snorkeling/fishing/rest and relaxation. We provide a large buffet breakfast bar, with coffee, teas, hot chocolate, juices and smoothies to order, waffles, pancakes, johnny cakes, powder buns and Fried Jacks (local Belizean specialities) as well as home made bread which are all rotated daily, and you can have your eggs cooked to order to go with local bacon, hams, cheeses. Dining on our screened porch is surrounded by mature littoral forest where you can hunt for orchids, the trees house iguana and osprey and at night time our nearest light pollution is over 40 miles away and so our dock makes for the perfect stargazing evening. We have an honesty bar for the evenings when you might like to take a night dip with the tarpon from our dock, or simply spot those myriad of stars above from one of the hammocks.
Huracan's on site Dive Center caters primarily to our own guests (max 8): Diving here is second to none... We are situated within Lighthouse Reef Atoll, extensively explored by the famous Jacques Cousteau, and we are less than 15 minutes away from the world renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Great Blue Hole, 10 minutes from the National Monument of Half Moon caye, and between 1 and 5 minutes from all the fabulous dive sites around the Long Caye area, including the amazing and much photographed 'Aquarium'. Snorkeling is done close to the reef crest, with the option of swimming the short distance to view the top of the wall, where we regularly spot eagle ray cruising, reef and nurse shark, and an abundance of turtle. You may even get the chance to spot our ancient resident loggerhead turtle which we estimate at around 6' long and probably well over 100 years old. Access to Long Caye and Huracan Diving & Guest House is via scheduled boat on Wednesdays and Saturdays only to coincide with our accommodation and diving packages.
IT IS POSSIBLE TO STAY WITH US FOR REST AND RELAXATION ONLY, PLEASE CONTACT US FOR RATES. We leave from one of the Belize City marinas and the trip takes around 1.5 hours, passing by numerous cayes and Turneffe Atoll on the way. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have, we opened in 2008 and have until now catered to divers very much by word of mouth.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Huracan's accommodation comprises 4 en-suite double rooms. Our building is entirely constructed from local, sustainably sourced hardwood, and we are completely off grid, relying on solar for our energy, backed up with a generator for cloudy days. Our dive packages include accommodation in our King rooms with en-suite bathrooms, all your meals – Breakfast is a buffet of fresh fruits including papaya, pineapple, orange, bananas and whatever else is fresh and in season. After diving, we come back for a little snack. Lunch after our second dive or snorkel is likely to be a perfectly sized slider or two, a hearty conch soup or perhaps a fresh tortilla quesadilla. We love that our food is as entertaining as some of our guests! Our chef adds a twist to our favorites with coconuts he’ll invite you to grind, or barracuda you can catch from one of our docks. With package prices from just $990, you’ll be enjoying world class diving and 5* restaurant food on your own private eco-island!
We are proud of our country and love to showcase Belizean produce and have our guests experience local cuisine. Our chefs at Huracan Diving Lodge serve local gourmet with an international flair. Our coconut oil for flavoring rice is hand cold pressed by the Lighthouse Keeper at neighboring Half Moon Caye, our mangos come freshly plucked, in season, from our chef’s own back yard tree on the mainland whilst the conch for our ceviche is fished directly from the waters around the island. Of course our chefs like to experiment with international methods and ideas too and bring lots of tasty concoctions to the hungry divers’ table! |
