MAINLAND TOUR DESCRIPTIONS

EACH VACATION BEGINS LIKE THIS...........

By arriving to the beautiful country of Belize, located in Central America.  Where you will enjoy seven days and six nights, on the beautiful island of Ambergris Caye.  Once you arrive at the Belize International Airport, you will then board a 15 passenger commuter aircraft (a 20 minute flight to San Pedro), located on the island of Ambergris Caye.

Here you will be greeted by Black Orchid personnel.  You will take a short journey through this small seaside town (via taxi) to the Black Orchid Office, where you will complete all required check in paperwork.  Here you can enjoy a complimentary cold beverage (of your choice) after a long day of travel, rent a golf cart, a cell phone, and sign up for any tours that you would like to take during your stay.

We will then assist you in getting either back in your standby taxi, or your newly acquired golf cart,.  We will provide you with a set of keys and a map, showing how to get to your resort destination and your adventure begins.  In some instances, if your travels take you up the coast,  we will assist you in getting to the island coast ferry, which will take you to your resort destination.

JUNGLE CAVE TUBING

Your Cave Tubing Adventure takes you to the Belize mainland, where you will travel to the Sibun Cave Branch area.  Here you will be given a life vest and an inner tube.  You will then take a short walk, where you will cross a river and begin your hike on a designated trail through the jungle, to the entrance of the cave system.  Here you will wade into a river, sit on your inner tube and float leisurely through the cave system, experiencing the sacred underworld of the Mayan people.

This is an exceptional tour and one that you will soon not forget.

ATV (All Terrain Vehicle)

Your "ATV" jungle, rain forest adventure is designed for the real adrenaline junkie.  Just imagine yourself exploring Belize's exotic rain forest on the saddle of a Honda ATV (All Terrain Vehicle or Quad Bike).  Feel the water against your skin, as you race through designated dirt trails along jungle rain forest paths.  You will not only fall in love with this tour, but will be asking when you can go again.

"ATM" CAVE EXPLORAION

Your Actun Tunichil Muknal "ATM" Cave Adventure takes you to the Belize mainland, where you will then travel to commence your hike across three dream crossings, which pass through 6,700 acres of the Tapir Jungle Mountain Nature Reserve.  This passage to the cave, is only known by a few guides (who have permission from the Belize Department of Archaeology), to take visitors to this special site.  To this day, the cave has not been looted and nearly all the cultural artifacts have remained in place as they were originally found in 1989.  Some hiking and swimming is required on this tour.

BABOON SANCTUARY

The Baboon Sanctuary is a small community near Bermudian Landing, located 43 km or (27) miles from Belize City.  This sanctuary, is located along a 33 km or (20 mile) stretch of the Belize River.  The community Baboon Sanctuary is a cooperative venture of private landowners (many of whom are subsistence farmers), conservationists, and biological researchers.  Their common aim is to preserve for animals and visitors alike, an extensive forest habitat for a large population of wild primates (the so-called "baboon"), which are actually Black Howler Monkeys.

JUNGLE RAIN FOREST HORSEBACK RIDING

Your horseback riding adventure takes you from our jungle lodge, across several miles of jungle trails, rivers, tree plantations and more.  This will be an adventure you will soon not forget!  See and experience the Belizean jungle rain forest, as it really is.

We have the largest herd of horses in Belize (130 horses and counting!), with 20+ years of experience in running a tropical rain forest, jungle, equestrian ranch.  This makes our location the ideal spot for your next vacation.

JUNGLE CANOPY ZIP LINING

Your Zip Lining Adventure takes you into the rain forest where you will fee at one with nature on this exciting Belize Zip Line Canopy Adventure.  This tour is by far one of the best methods, to view it all from a rain forest canopy level.  The drive will take you to the Western Highway for approximately 50 minutes, where you will reach the limestone hills of Belize.  Once at the Zip Line location, the guides will help you with your gear, your harness, helmet and hand gear in preparation for your aerial adventure.  A short 5 minute walk in the rain forest will bring you to the start of this excursion, where you will be instructed on the zip line technique and method.

Your zip line adventure begins with the first of eight platforms, where you will "jump" from, arriving at the next platform approximately 150 feet away.  As you fly through the air, it is a most exhilarating and exciting feeling to encounter.

All platforms are strategically located within the rain forest canopy.  To ensure safety, each platform is connected by a double cable (each cable is able to withstand 2,000 pounds in weight).  All landing platforms are equipped with safety gear, handrails and guides to meet you at the next landing as well as to ensure your personal safety through the tour.  The platforms are as high as 85 feet, into the rain forest canopy, and anywhere from 150 to 250 feet apart.  So get ready for this fantastic adventure, reserve your spot early, as space is limited.

BELIZE JUNGLE ZOO

The Belize Zoo & Tropical Education Center was started in 1983, as a last ditch effort to provide a home for a collection of wild animals which had been used in the making of several documentary films about tropical rain forests.  Shortly after the backyard "zoo" began (they quickly realized), that its many visitors were unfamiliar with the different species of wild life here in Belize.  This very aspect fermented the commitment to develop the little zoo into a dynamic wildlife education center.

Today, the Belize Zoo is settled upon 29 acres of tropical savanna and exhibits over 125 animals all native to Belize.  The Zoo keeps animals that were orphaned, born at the zoo, rehabilitated animals, or sent to the Belize Zoo as gifts from other zoological institutions.

A visit to the zoo is the best way to get an introduction to the animals of Belize, and to understand why it is important to protect the habitat that sustains them.

The Belize Zoo receives over 10,000 school children every year as part of the progressive education programs and popular zoo events which include:  April - the Tapir's birthday party; Summer Camp; Science Fair; Teacher Training & Student Career Training.
